GA4 Updates

Making the switch
It's been a year since we started updating our websites to facilitate the switch from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 and we are now finally at the launch date.
Fundamentally, after the 1st July 2023, Universal Analytics properties will no longer receive or process data from websites. This will all be handled by the new platform GA4.
If you have not yet created a GA4 property, Google will likely have created one for you. In their GA4 Property Setup Assistant (as shown below) the automatic creation of a basic property is ticked by default.

There is now a significant body of research work out there, published by leading consultancies such as McKinsey, which highlight the opportunities for B2B eCommerce as part of hybrid channel approach to engaging with potential customers and growing business to business revenues.
This research strongly indicates that corporate buyers are increasingly comfortable relying on digital channels throughout the purchasing journey, from initial research though to placing their order.
Clearly face-to-face selling and account management still matter – however an effective eCommerce website is an essential tool to have in the mix.

As with anything, categories come with their own challenges. At a top level, you need to decide how you want to organise your products; category hierarchy is an essential part of building your product content.
